Governmental agencies, individuals and charitable foundations buyers place great value on land that provides ecosystem services and open space to the general public. Every year, these entities provide over $4 billion for the purchase of land, conservation easements and other property rights that protect critical natural resources. Additional public and private funds are made available for one-time and annual payments to land owners for agricultural and forestry practices that improve wildlife habitat and other environmental attributes. MMA Sustainable Land Investments will work closely with these entities, as well as non-profit land trusts and conservation organizations, to permanently protect properties prioritized by local communities and collaborative conservation planning initiatives.
